Celebrating Love and Hope: HIBC Visits Sichuan Children’s Village During Mid-Autumn Festival

In September 2018, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, our Founder and CEO Miss Xia visited the Mianyang Gratia Children’s Village, located in Zitong County, Sichuan Province. Founded in the aftermath of the devastating 2008 Sichuan earthquake by the Hong Kong Gratia Foundation, the village provides shelter, education, and nurturing care to orphans and disadvantaged children from extremely poor rural families.

As we commemorated the 10th anniversary of the earthquake, the visit was profoundly meaningful. During the one-week stay, Miss Xia spent time deeply immersed in the daily lives of these resilient children—sharing meals, assisting with homework, participating in house chores, and offering comfort and encouragement. Together, they celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival through joyful traditions such as making mooncakes, lighting lanterns, and enjoying festive games under the bright, autumn moon. The sound of children’s laughter resonated throughout the village, a testament to the loving environment fostered by the dedicated caretakers.
